1282333 Preserving sugar HOLSTEIN & KAPPERT MASCHINENFABRIK PHOENIX GmbH 16 March 1970 [14 May 1969] 12475/70 Heading A2D [Also in Division C6] A continuous process for the production of a sugar syrup by dissolving predetermined quantities of sugar in water comprises the steps of introducing the predetermined quantities of sugar into water by means of a proportioning device, and transferring the mixture to a multiple plate heat exchanger which heats the mixture to a pasteurising temperature under agitation, whereby the sugar is dissolved and cools the solution so formed. As shown, the water, heated by regenerating chamber 3 of the heat exchanger 1, is fed by a pipe 6 towards heating chamber 2, sugar is then added in the required predetermined quantities to the hot water in the pipe 6 by a proportioning device 5, and the mixture passes successively through the heating chamber 2, the regenerating chamber 3 and cooling chamber 4.
