Abstract

1282182 Pipes COMPAGNIE FRANCAISE DES PETROLES SA 30 June 1970 [10 Oct 1969] 31768/70 Heading F2P [Also in Divisions E1 F4 and G3] A pipe for use in conducting gases from an underwater oil well to a flare stack projecting above the water surface comprises a water permeable casing 1 connected at one end to a hood 2 secured to a mooring and at the other end to an element 32 which interconnects the easing 1 and the flare stack. At each end the casing 1 is folded round a toroid tube 10, the folded portion being covered with a strip of neoprene and clamped against a flange 10a by a section 10b. The casing is preferably made of neoprene, polyester or polyethylene and is held open by metal hoops 8 which are either secured to the casing or to cables 9 as shown. The cables are attached at either end to the hood 2 and element 32 respectively so that any traction between the flare stack and mooring is transmitted by the cables and does not subject the casing 1 to any undue strain.
