1281902 A-heterosteroids E R SQUIBB & SONS Inc 2 Oct 1969 48552/69 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of Formulµ II and III wherein R is H, alkyl, aryl, arylalkyl, haloalkyl, haloaryl or haloaryl-alkyl or trifluoromethylaryl (the term "alkyl" signifying C 1-6 alkyl and the term "aryl" being inclusive of alkaryl) ; and their preparation by converting 5-hydroxy-3-oxa-A- nor-5#-pregnane-2,20-dione to the 20-ethylene ketal thereof, reacting the latter with RNHNH 2 followed by hydrolysis of the ketal group to give II which may then be reduced with LiAlH 4 to give III. The inventive compounds are said to possess antiandrogenic activity and may be made up with carriers into pharmaceutical compositions for oral administration.
