Abstract
1281699 Physically developed photographic plates bearing conductive metal images ITEK CORP 14 July 1969 [15 July 1968] 35289/69 Headings G2C and G2M A photo-sensitive layer having a thickness of less than 10 microns on a support therefor is exposed and then physically developed until the image formed is a conductive metal image adherently bonded to the support. The photosensitive entity may be silver halide, a photoconductor, anazo compound or a ferric compound. In the examples the photo-sensitive entity is titanium dioxide. The support may be aluminium, which may be silicate coated in Example 5 or iron. In Example 3 titanium dioxide is used without a binder. The support metal may be separated from the photo-sensitive material by an insulating layer which will photo-conductively insulate the photosensitive material from the support. The insulating layer may be aluminium oxide on an aluminium support. The photo-sensitive layer may be removed after image formation by washing. In Example 1 a silver image on an aluminium support is treated with a copperizing solution, the copper imaged plate treated with dilute H 3 PO 4 and the plate is then inked. In Example 2 a silver image is treated with 2-mercapto-benzothiazole and 85% H 3 PO 4 in water so that the silver image will accept greasy ink and the non-exposed areas will accept water. In Example 4 an additional treatment to that in Example 2 is effected by coating with a lacquer which adheres to oleophilic surfaces in preference to hydrophilic surfaces. Reference is made to Specifications 1281697 and 1281700.
