Abstract

1281682 Extruding reinforced hose CREATORS Ltd 29 Sept 1969 [28 June 1968 31088/68 Heading B5A [Also in Division F2] A reinforced flexible plastics hose having a flexible plastics tube wall reinforced by axially spaced rings of a more rigid or mechanically stronger plastics is produced by the apparatus shown. In it the softer plastics passes continuously into a die 9 via passageway 16. The reinforcing plastics passes into the die 9 via passageways 11, 12, 14 entering the die 9 at constriction 15. Separate or joined rings, Figs 2, 3, 4 (not shown), of the harder plastics are produced by controlling the outputs from a continuous extruder 5 and impulse extruder 7. Suitable plastics are soft and hard P.V.C. The impulse extruder comprises an intermittently operated piston 7, fed by a screw extruder 5. Softer plastics may be supplied to the die from a further inlet passageway to coat the inside or outside of the Fig. 3 or Fig. 4 reinforcements.
