Abstract

1280888 Electron beam supply systems MOSKOVSKY ORDENA LENINA ENERGETICHESKY INSTITUT 16 July 1969 [17 July 1968] 35813/69 Heading H2H An electron beam apparatus 2 is provided with a power supply 1 which can be switched to operate either in a constant current or a constant voltage mode. The apparatus 2 is supplied by way of a rectifier unit and a transformer 7 the primary winding of the transformer being connected in one phase of the three phase A.C. supply and, in the constant current mode, a switch 5 is closed to connect a capacitor 3 in a second of the phases and a switch 6 open to connect an inductor 4 in the third phase, and, when the supply is required to operate in the constant voltage mode, the switch 5 is opened to disconnect the capacitor 3 and the switch 6 may be either open or closed to give two different values of output voltage. In a second embodiment the transformer has three primary windings each associated with switches, capacitor and inductor, further switches being provided to connect these windings in star or delta.
