1280665 Starting prime movers JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 29 April 1970 [28 July 1969] 37712/69 Heading H2H [Also in Division F1] A starter for a road vehicle includes a starting motor 16 incorporating a pinion (not shown) movable into engagement with a toothed wheel on the engine, a control switch 12 movable from an off position successively to first and second starting positions, a winding 18, 19 which is energized in the first starting position of the switch to move the pinion into engagement with the toothed wheel on the engine and a second winding 21 which is energized in the second starting position of the switch to close a contact 17 to apply full power to the starting motor, the second winding and contact being mounted at a position remote from the starting motor.
