Abstract

1280044 Pyridyl - chromenol derivatives BEECHAM GROUP Ltd 22 Sept 1970 [15 Oct 1969] 50703/69 Addition to 1167784 Heading C2C Pyridyl-chromenols of the Formula I in which R 1 is C 1-6 alkyl and R 2 is C 1-20 alkyl or cycloalkyl-C 1-20 alkyl are obtained by reacting a coumarin of Formula II with a Grignard reagent of formula R 1 MgX, where X is halogen, at a temperature below 50‹ C. in a reaction medium which is inert under the reaction conditions, decomposing the complex and dehydrating the resulting triol, e.g. by addition of glacial acetic acid. Certain of the products have pharmacodynamic activity on the cardiovascular and central nervous systems.
