Abstract

1278783 Coupling ships; false bows G STOCKDALE 25 Aug 1969 [6 Sept 1968] 42395/68 Headings B7A and B7S [Also in Division E2] Each coupling C of a push-towing-boat A and barge B assembly comprises a pair of apertured lugs 31 rigidly mounted at the stern 30 of the barge, a metal strap 33 pivoted between the lugs and a pair of knee brackets 35 rigidly mounted at deck level on the tug. The metal strap is locked in engagement with the knee brackets by opposed jaws 36, 36<SP>1</SP> which are themselves held in embracing engagement by a second metal strap 43 pivotally connected to jaw 36. The bow of the tug shown comprises two pivotally connected fairing pieces 10 which on displacement leave exposed a bulkhead 12 for pushertow purposes.
