Abstract

1278748 Vehicle grab handles FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 28 May 1971 [11 Aug 1970] 17752/71 Heading B7L A motor vehicle grab handle 1 comprises an elongated handle section 6 connected at each end to an attachment portion 4, screwed to a vehicle body 3, by an intermediate portion 5 all formed integrally from a resilient material; waisted sections 7 at the ends of the intermediate portions form film hinges and allow relative articulation between the intermediate portion and the attachment portion and the elongated handle section respectively. When fitted by screws 2 to a vehicle body pips 9 prevent rotation of the attachment portions on the vehicle body and the film hinges allow the grab handle to be moved from an outwardly extending position to a recessed position (shown dot-dash) in a finger well 8 either by a light push or a heavy impact load depending upon the thickness of the film hinges.
