Abstract

1329015 Mooring cleats H FULLAGAR 24 Aug 1971 [26 Aug 1970] 41099/70 Heading E2A A mooring cleat comprises a body member 12, having means for use in securing the cleat to a mounting surface, and two oppositely extending arms 10, 11 pivotally mounted to said body member, said arms being movable between first positions in which said cleat functions in the same way as a fixed arm cleat, and second positions in which the outer portions of the underside of said arms are in use substantially in contact with said mounting surface. The thickness of the arms, in the direction measured perpendicularly to the mounting surface in use, reduces towards the outer ends 18 of the arms and there is provided a detent mechanism (not shown) for maintaining the arms in either of the two positions. The inner end surfaces 16 of the arms come into contact with each other when the arms are in the first positions thereby preventing the arms from being raised further.
