Abstract
1278153 Electro-deposition of insulating resin coatings KUREHA KAGAKU KOGYO K.K. 23 June 1970 [25 June 1969] 30382/70 HeadingC7B Fluorine resin insulating coatings are formed on electro-conductors, e.g. on wire, by electrodeposition from a dispersion containing particles of a homopolymer of vinylidene fluoride or vinyl fluoride, or a copolymer containing at least 90 mol % of vinylidene fluoride or vinyl fluoride, followed by heating to above the melting point for the fluorine resin such as to flow the resin and form a continuous coating thereof. The liquid medium of the dispersion may be an organic liquid in which the resin is insoluble at room temperature but soluble at a higher temperature such that during the heating step the resin first dissolves in entrained liquid. Such solvents include propylene carbonate, butyrolactone, ethyl aceto acetate, tetraethylurea triethyl phosphate, dimethyl or methylisobutyl phthalate, iso-phorone, acetophenone, dimethyl formamide or diisobutyl ketone. As shown a wire 11 to be coated isfedto electro-coating bath 2a provided with a counter-electrode 8 formed by a mesh cylinder or, for instance, by rings or a cylindrical coil, and with a partition 9 of glass ceramic or resin material which screens from coating parts of the wire other than that in the vicinity of the counter-electrode 8; the wire thereafter passing through furnace 4 for heattreatment. Alternatively the tank 2 may form the counter-electrode. The dispersion may also contain pigments, fillers or surfactants. The wire to be coated may be tin-plated copper wire.
