Abstract
1278125 Jet propulsion engine air intakes DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 4 May 1970 [9 May 1969] 23735/69 Addition to 1166733 Headings F1G and F1J In a mofification of the aircraft engine air intake duct described in Specification 1, 166, 733, the leading edge of movable wall 14 for deflecting boundary layer flow through a downstream bleed aperture 17 during supersonic operation is disposed upstream of the inlet plane 13 of the duct by a distance not exceeding the distance 20 measured in plane 13 between intake lip 16 and structure 11. The upstream distance may be less than 0-25 of the distance 20. Air jets &c. as described in the parent Specification may be provided to improve aerodynamic efficiency.
