Abstract

1277963 Synthetic turf for sporting purposes MINNESOTA MINING & MFG CO 24 June 1969 [25 June 1968] 31899/69 Heading A6D [Also in Divisions B5 and C3] A synthetic turf for surfacing sports areas comprises a soft cellular visco-elastic base of Shore A durometer hardness 5-40, a void volume of 15-75% and coefficient of restitution 0.05-0.3 adhesively bonded to a grasssimulating pile fabric. The synthetic turf may be preformed, or may be assembled by casting the base material, e.g. polyurethane containing a frangible filler, on to a substrate, curing and applying the pile fabric.
