Abstract

1,016,895. Golf clubs. WILSON ATHLETIC GOODS MFG CO. Inc. Oct. 15, 1962 [April 2, 1962], No. 38870/62. Heading A6D. A golf club head comprises a recess 33 in its striking face, which during the course of manufacture is filled with a self-hardening plastics composition in liquid form, the composition being allowed to harden at room temperature and normal atmospheric pressure. The main part of the head is preferably constructed from a fibrous material so that as it hardens, the plastics material bonds firmly therewith. Finally, the surface of the insert and the adjacent areas of the striking face are milled to the desired contour.
