Abstract
1277432 Colostomy appliances P F BULLEN 16 Dec 1969 [14 Jan 1969] 2107/69 Heading A5R A colostomy device comprises a substantially flat faced annular ring 10 having a wall 11 spaced from one side thereof and arranged to mask a segmental area within the inner periphery of the ring, leaving a gap 15 in the remaining area, so that when the device is in use the stoma is supported by the wall. The wall may be connected to the ring by a flange 12, or may be dome shaped (Fig. 6, not shown). A soft facing 17 of foamed synthetic resinous material is adhered to the side of the ring 10 which in use is in contact with the body. In use a flexible bag (14), Fig. 1 (not shown) may be passed through gap 15 and brought around the ring and be retained in place by a ring 16 placed around ring 10, the whole assembly being held in place on the user by a strap passing through lugs 20 and 21.
