Abstract

127,735. Humphryes, J. H. June 13, 1918. Tanks.-Steel tanks &c. are formed of internally-flanged curved plates a, formed by pressing and stiffened by longitudinal ribs or corrugations d, leaving a plain zone at each end and side of the plate. The corners may be pressed from the solid plate, or may be cut out before bending the flanges and afterwards welded. The flanges are pressed by hydraulically-operated folding-tools, and a divided inner tool with a central wedge. Lead &c. packings are placed between adjoining flanges.
