It may be pointed out that, if these projections were directed cross- Wise of the bar they might constitute an effective mechanical bond but wouldnot enter materially 'in the tensile strength of e the bar. According to my invention, however, not only is an effective bond provided Y by the substantially longitudinal projections but-'these projections also contribute inaterially in the4 tensile strength of the bar.
