Abstract
1277296 Water heating boiler D FERROLI [trading as FERROLI GAS SnC] 5 June 1969 [11 June 1968] 28536/69 Heading F4A A water boiler comprises a number of hollow elements A and B, Fig. 3, arranged side by side to form between them flue passageways, the opposed walls of alternate elements having a number of projections 18, and recesses 19, inclined relative to the vertical and in opposite sense on the opposed walls to cause deviations alternately in opposite directions to the flow of combustion gases, both in vertical longitudinal and vertical transversal planes of the boiler. The projections 18 also have inclined fins 20, Fig. 1, forming a stepped arrangement to assist heat transfer. One of the end elements B has openings 11 and 12 connected to water inlet and outlet ducts respectively. Every element comprises water passageways 13 and 14, the water flowing from passageway 14, through side ducts (15), Fig. 2 (not shown), around a space 16 containing a burner 17 for liquid or gaseous fuel, and through the respective element to passageway 13 and opening 12. The local acceleration of the gases, due to the slopes 21 of the projections discourages soot settlement. Small indentations 23 are also provided on the projections 18, 19 to facilitate heat exchange.
