1277215 Porous polyolefine sheets LION FAT & OIL CO Ltd 21 July 1969 [22 July 1968 7 Sept 1968 2 Dec 1968 21 Dec 1968] 36590/69 Headings C3C and C3P A porous polyolefine sheet is made by forming a polyolefine resin sheet kneaded with 20-90% by wt. of calcium sulphate and/or sulphite, and soaking the sheet in an aqueous solution of hydrochloric and/or nitric acid to dissolve the sulphate and/or sulphite. The polyolefine may be polyethylene and may be compounded with a rubber, e.g. an ethylene/propylene rubber. The acid solution may also contain a cationic surfactant e.g. dodecyltrimethylammonium chloride. After being soaked in acid, the sheet may be contacted with an alkali solution e.g. aq. sodium hydroxide.
