Abstract
1276616 Cutting PHILIPS & SONS (MANCHESTER) Ltd 19 April 1971 [14 April 1970 22 Aug 1970] 17612/70 and 40551/70 Heading B4B Means for guiding, e.g. a rotary traversible cutter (not shown) for cutting cloth &o. comprises an elongate guide member 2 for guiding the cutter for substantially horizontal traverse, support rollers 34, 36, and a flexible tensioned member 30, fixed between two stationary points 32, 38, and engaged by the rollers 34, 36 so that the guide member 2 can be vertically adjusted relative to the points 32, 38. A handle 40 allows manual adjustment of the guide member 2, a rod 10 attached to the member 2 running in a tube 12 fixed to a bracket 16 of a table, while a spring 42 partially counterbalances the weight of the member 2. In a modification, Fig. 2, the tube 12 is adjustably supported on bars 76 of a cloth laying carriage 60, cloth being supplied from a roll 68 under or between rollers 92, 94, adjustable, Fig. 3 (not shown), for one-way or two-way laying over the table 66.
