Abstract

1276176 Expanded silicate mouldings GRUNZWEIG & HARTMANN AG 15 Aug 1969 [16 Aug 1968] 40911/69 Heading B5A Thermally blown or expanded silicate mouldings are produced by pressing the starting material into a blank or billet, subsequently blowing the blank or billet and then pressing the mass into the desired shape. The shape of the blank or billet is preferably substantially identical to the final shape. The final pressing may be effected by at least one cooled pressing tool so that the surface layers of the moulding are cooled to below the "limit of plasticity". A, refractory material such as sand, cement alumina, kaolin powder, &c. or an inert molten material e.g. glass or metal, may be used as a support for the blank or billet during foaming.
