Abstract
1275450 Smoke detectors NITTAN CO Ltd 18 Dec 1969 [24 Dec 1968] 61769/69 Heading G1N In an ionisation smoke detector a radio-active source 14 is located adjacent one of a pair of electrodes 11, 12, a grid electrode 13 being located between electrodes 11, 12, and all three electrodes being contained in a single ionisation chamber. A voltage E is applied across the two electrodes 11, 12 and upon smoke being present the potential at the electrode 13 changes to set off an alarm 17, via an amplifier 15. A unipolar current flows between electrodes 11 and 12.
