Abstract

1275417 Bearings SOC ANON AUTOMOBILES CITROEN 24 Nov 1969 [3 Dec 1968] 57305/69 Heading F2A A bearing comprises an outer ring 1, Fig. 1, a sleeve 2 of elastomeric material which is attached by bonding, for example, to the outer ring 1, and an inner ring 3 having radially-outwardly directed flanges 3a and teeth 3c, Fig. 3, which grip the elastomeric sleeve 2, the ring 3 may be provided with an inner annular recess 6, Fig. 1, and holes 3d, Fig. 3, and may be split at 3b. Seals 4, 4 are provided and may be integral with the sleeve 2 as shown in Fig. 5. The teeth 3c, which may be two sets separated by a cylindrical surface containing the holes 3d as shown in Fig. 2, may vary in cross-section. Grease, for example, is packed between the teeth 3c, in the holes 3d, in the slot 3b, in the recess 6 and within the annular spaces in the seals 4 when a shaft 5 is positioned within the bearing. The journal portion of the shaft is preferably made of synthetic plastics material.
