Abstract

1349340 Bearings TIMKEN CO 22 June 1971 [15 May 1970] 23794/70 Heading F2A A bearing assembly comprises an open-ended axle-box 3 having internal inwardly-extending abutment means 4 for the outer races 5, 6 of roller bearings, two seal members 17, 18 attached to the outer races, means 11 spacing the inner races 9, 10 on the axle 1, and means 14, 15 for retaining the inner races in position. In an alternative embodiment, the abutment means 4 comprises two integral annular ribs mutually spaced axially in the axle-box. In place of integral ribs, snap-rings engaging in grooves in the axle-box may be provided.
