1275019 Phototropic glass JENAER GLAS. WERK SCHOTT & GEN VEB 18 Dec 1970 60181/70 Heading C1M Phototropic borate glass containing silver halide and no silicon dioxide consists essentially of, in percentages by weight:- B 2 O 3 45 - 70 P 2 O 1 - 12 Me<SP>I</SP> 2 O 5 - 20 Me<SP>II</SP>O 0 - 15 Al 2 O 3 5 - 15 ZrO 2 1 - 12 Ag 0À1 - 1 Cl 0À3 - 2 CuO 0À01 - 0À05 in which Me<SP>I</SP> signifies at least one of Li, Na, K, Rb and Cs, Me" signifies at least one of Mg, Sr and Ba and wherein up to half of the chlorine is replaceable by bromine and/or iodine. Up to 0À05% of at least one element of Ti, V, Cr, Mn and Co in an electro-positive valency state may be added to colour the initial glass and up to 0À1% of S, Se and/or Te may be added as sensitizers or, for the coloured glass, as modifying additions.
