Abstract

Transmission gear of invariable ratio. - Relates to electrically - propelled threewheeled. railway platform trucks &c. having a single driving-wheel. The motor 1 has its driving-shaft 14 parallel to the road-wheel 2 to obviate overhang, a bevelwheel 15 on the shaft 14 gearing with a bevel-wheel 16 on a counter-shaft 17 which drives an internal gear 27 on the road wheel. The countershaft may be hollow to receive the stem 23 of the driving-pinion 22 which is secured by a bolt 24. One end of the motor is mounted on a spring 9, an extension 11 of the casing at the other end forming with a cover plate 13 a gearbox and a housing 12 for an adjustable eccentric sleeve 7 forming a pivotal mounting for the motor on the road wheel axle 4.
