Abstract

1,274,139. Building panel. HAMBURGER FLUGZEUGBAU G.m.b.H. 4 Sept., 1970 [29 Nov., 1969], No. 42346/70. Heading B5N. A lightweight structural member 1 for buildings comprises a plurality of plastics tubes 2 juxtaposed and cemented together along their generating lines and closed at the tubes' ends with coverplates 3, 4 wherein the plastics tubes are reinforced with fibres or filaments. The reinforcing fibres may be disposed in a random, helical or parallel array or may be arranged in intersecting configurations and may comprise filaments or fibres of nylon, glass, boron, carbon or iron. The plastics material may be of polyvinyl chloride, cellulose acetate, polycarbonate or polysulphonate. The coverplates 3, 4 may consist of aluminium foil or glass fibre reinforced plastics sheet material.
