Abstract
1,273,868. Cryostat. COMPAGNIE GENERALE D'ELECTRICITE. 24 Sept., 1970 [30 Sept., 1969], No. 45664/70. Heading F4H. A cryostat 1 contains a load circuit 3 which is fed by an external current source 2, the load circuit 3 comprising a superconductive winding 4, which may be an electromagnet, across which is connected a superconductive switch 5. Current is supplied to each side of the load circuit 3 by two superconductive lower parts 16 and 17 which are in thermal contact with two tubular members 10 and 11. Before supplying current to the load circuit 3, cryogenic liquid is forced up the tubular members 10 and 11, bringing the parts 16 and 17 into a superconductive state.
