Abstract

1,273,580. Making burners; corrugating. N. L. APPLICATION S.A. 30 Dec., 1969 [14 Jan., 1969; 14 July, 1969; 17 Dec., 1969], No. 63266/69. Headings B3A and B3E. [Also in Divisions F3-F4] A non-atmospheric gas burner includes a tube 1 having gas outlet ports 7 for main flames 11, the tube 1 being partly surrounded by a sleeve 8 and passages being provided between the tube 1 and the sleeve 8 for the supply of gas to form auxiliary flames 10. As shown in Fig. 1, the passages are formed by grooves 2 in the tube and Figs. 2 and 3 illustrate how these grooves 2 may be formed: in Fig. 2 an auxiliary roller 12 provided with ridges 13 and the tube 1 are rolled around one another under pressure and in Fig. 3 the tube 1 is rolled over a plate 14 provided with ridges 15. Alternatively the grooves 2 are formed by a chipping operation on a lathe. The tube 1 is also formed with a longitudinal depression or groove by a pressing or rolling operation, a thinned planar area 6 is provided by milling or abrading and the outlet ports 7 are provided by drilling. After this treatment the sleeve 8 can be slipped on to the tube. In the burner of Fig. 11 the passages for the auxiliary flames are formed by grooves 34 in the sleeve 29. In the burner of Fig. 14 an intermediate piece 47, 48, 49 of the sleeve 44 encloses an insert formed by plates 50, 51, 52, 53, 54. Fig. 4 shows a burner with a gas supply connection 16 at one end and the other end of the tube being closed by pinching to form a closure 17.
