Abstract
1,273,543. Electric switches. TECALEMIT (DEVELOPMENTS) Ltd. 17 April, 1970 [1 April, 1969], No. 16987/69. Heading H1N. [Also in Division G1] In a liquid level control device, such as for controlling the level of oil in an engine sump 19, a float 8, movable in a chamber 7 and carrying a permanent magnet 9, causes, when the liquid level 35 in the sump 19 and chamber 7 falls, the magnet 9 to close the contacts of an encapsulated reed switch 10 and complete a circuit to a solenoid 5 to open a spring loaded valve 27 to permit oil to flow from a reservoir through a pipe 13 and a non-return ball valve drain plug 14 or an adapter 18 to the sump 19. A diode 11 or a capacitor with or without a resistor prevents arcing of the reed switch contacts. The device may be vented to atmosphere through a vent 25 or under pressure through a pipe 24 connected to the sump 19 and the chamber 7.
