Abstract

1,273,460. Vehicle lamps. DAIMLER. BENZ A.G. 30 Oct., 1970 [5 Nov., 1969], No. 51782/70. Heading F4R. A lamp which illuminates a compartment of a vehicle such as a glove compartment or boot space, is arranged to be releasable for use also as a portable hand lamp when required and is equipped with a gas-tight accumulator charged from the vehicle supply system. In its fixed position in the vehicle the lamp 1 is plugged into the vehicle supply system and may be continuously on charge, or on charge only when the ignition is on. It incorporates a combined press and slide switch 6, which is operated automatically as a press switch, by opening or closing the lid or door of the compartment, or manually as a slide switch when used as a hand lamp. The lamp has a magnet 4, or clips, which enable it to be supported as required during use as a portable lamp. The lens 5 of the lamp is heavily grooved to facilitate handling.
