Abstract
1,272,932. Nickel dithiocarbamates. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 13 May, 1969 [30 May, 1968], No. 25986/68. Addition to 1,205,932. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C3] The invention comprises nickel dithiocarbamates of formula Ni(-S-CS-NRR 1 ) 2 wherein R represents an alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl or aralkyl group or substituted derivative thereof or a group R 1 ; and R 1 represents a 3 - t - alkyl - 5 - primary or secondary alkyl- 4-hydroxybenzyl group. These compounds are prepared by reacting a nickel salt with a dithiocarbamic ester of the formula wherein R 2 is a group of the type represented by R 1 . The dithiocarbamic ester may be prepared in ethanol or butanol solution by condensation of formaldehyde, a primary amine, and a 2-t-alkyl-6-primary or secondary alkylphenol followed by interaction with CS 2 . The examples describe the preparation of nickel bis - [N,N - bis - (3 - t - butyl - 5 - methyl - 4- hydroxybenzyl) dithiocarbamate and nickel bis - [N(3 - t - butyl - 5 - methyl - 4 - hydroxybenzyl-N-cyclohexyldithiocarbamate.
