Abstract
1,272,905. Sluice gates. SOC GENERALE DE CONSTRUCTIONS ELECTRIQUES ET MECANIQUES (ALSTHOM). 15 July, 1970 [13 Jan., 1970], No. 34385/70. Heading E1H. An automatic gate rendering the downstream level N substantially constant has a part-cylindrical apron 1 and a float 4 interconnected by arms 3 resting on a knife edge 2, which is provided by the upstream lip of a fixed tank 5. A slit 6 damps oscillations of the float. The effective breadth of the slit can be adjusted by shifting a plate 9, which is secured by screws 11 in slots 12. The plate 9 can be reversed so that a part 14 can retain a sealing member in the slit, Fig. 3 (not shown), while a counterweight 7 is adjusted.
