Abstract

1275193 Water gates SOC GENERALE DE CONSTRUCTIONS ELECTRIQUES ET MECANIQUES (ALSTHOM) 15 July 1970 [20 Jan 1970] 34384/70 Heading E1H A gate to automatically control the depth of water in an upstream section of an open channel includes a part-cylindrical barrier-plate 1 having a float 2 fixed to its upstream side and mounted in a narrow section 3 of the channel so as to pivot about a horizontal axis downstream thereof. To prevent a substantial change in the surface level of the water in the region of the float due to acceleration of the water entering the section 3 a short tapering entrance to this section is provided by walls with flat surfaces 9, 10 extending from a wall 8. Said walls, outwardly-inclined flat side-walls 18 and the bottom lining of the section 3 are made of concrete. Each of the faces 9 may be replaced by two mutuallyoblique faces (12, 13), Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown).
