Abstract
1,272,553. Switchgear structures. DELLEALSTHOM. 14 Jan., 1970 [23 Jan., 1969], No. 1920/70. Heading H1N. A metal-clad switchgear station has bus-bars arranged in casings 1 and connected to switch units 6 adapted to slide on frameworks 19, 20 parallel to the casings 1, the units 6 being connected together by connecting rods 10 having a coefficient of expansion equal to that of the busbar casings. The bus-bar casings are sectioned by bellows 3, the centre 4, 5 of each section being bolted firmly to the framework; similarly the unit 6 adjacent the centre is fixed, the remainder being free to move away from the centre. Earth currents are prevented by insulation, e.g. P.T.F.E., from flowing through the sliding connections. In Fig. 2, a circuit breaker is connected by isolators 13, 14 to duplicate busbars 11, 12 and at its upper part to a cable 24, the latter arrangement allowing the cable to accommodate movements of the circuit breaker unit.
