Abstract

1,272,457. Dental stands. SIEMENS A.G. 24 Oct., 1969 [26 Oct., 1968], No. 52332/69. Heading A5R. A dental treatment assembly comprises a vertically adjustable chair 1 mounting a dental unit housing 10 movable lengthwise of the chair and which has a support arm 12, which is pivoted about a vertical axis 15 thereon, dental hand appliances 17, 18 and 22 carried by the free end of the support arm and connected to extensible supply conduits in the arm, and locking means 38 on the housing for locking it to the chair. The dental unit is supported on a carriage 35 running on a guide rail 34, the carriage being provided with an electromagnetic brake which is actuated by a handle 25 at the free end of arm 12, which handle is pivotable about a horizontal axis (48) Fig. 3, (not shown) to actuate switches 47 controlling the brake when displaced either side of its normal position. A counterbalanced parallelogram arm 39 supporting a tray 24 is provided as described in Specification 1,272,455 and the housing 10 also supports a spittoon unit as described in Specification 1,272,456.
