Abstract

1,271,468. Releasable fastenings. DAIMLER BENZ A.G. 7 July, 1970 [22 Oct., 1969], No. 32889/70. Heading E2A. A device for locking a tippable driver's cab to the chassis of a commercial motor vehicle and adapted to be disposed on the driver's cab and co-operable with a keeper 3 adapted to be disposed on the chassis, comprises a pivotable bolt 5 which in a first position, Fig. 1, engages the keeper and in a second position frees the keeper, a locking member 8 adapted to lock the bolt in the first position thereof and to be withdrawn against a spring 9, and a spring-loaded detent 12 arranged to hold the member 8 in the withdrawn position. The detent is arranged to be moved by the bolt into a released position when the bolt is moved into the second position to free the keeper whereby the locking member is moved by the spring 9 into a position of readiness for locking. As shown, the device is unlocked by withdrawing the locking member 8 by the handle 10 against the action of spring 9, the detent 12 being rocked by the spring 13 about pivot 11 so that the detent engages the shoulder 15 of the member 8. By tipping the driver's cab, the keeper 3 moves out of the opening 2 in the base plate 1 and rotates the bolt 5 against the action of spring 7, a pin 17 on the bolt rotating the detent to free the latter from the shoulder 15 and the member 8 thereby being pushed by spring 9 so that the edge 18 thereof engages the edge 19 of the bolt; the device is thus in the position of readiness for locking.
