Abstract

1,271,410. Hoppers. BROWN, BOVERI & CO. Ltd. 28 April, 1969 [30 April, 1968], No. 21483/69. Heading B8S. [Also in Divisions F4 and E2] A container 10, for use in containing hot scrap metal, includes a bottom closure 16 having an upper or inside set of doors 18 and a lower or outside set of doors 20. Each set of doors may comprise either three or four flaps 22, the flaps being identical and sector shaped, with the centre of the arcuate side hinged to the lower end of the container at 24. The flaps of the upper set are staggered with respect to the. flaps of the lower set to prevent the scrap metal from scattering when the closure is opened. The flaps are closed by power ram units comprising pneumatic piston-cylinder assemblies 34 and a self-locking toggle linkage formed by two links 50 and 44.
