The pistons 14a, 14b are urged towards the cam 2na, 2nb on the drive-shaft 2 by a spring 17 having limbs 17az, 17bz operating a diaphragm 18 or a piston providing charge compression. A fan (12), Fig. 2 (not shown), on the drive-shaft 2 directs air over the engine cylinders.
