Abstract
1,270,662. Tetrafluoroethylene oligomer derivatives. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 15 April, 1969, No. 42536/71. Divided out of 1,250,661. Heading C2C. The invention comprises compounds of the formula wherein n is 4, 5 or 6 and Q is or -CH 2 -R, wherein L is H, CH 3 or C 2 H 5 , m is an integer from 1 to 6 and R is selected from wherein X, Y and Z which may be the same or different are methyl or ethyl groups and A is Cl, Br, I or CH 3 SO 4 or Q is wherein L and m are as hereinbefore specified and M is hydrogen, alkali-metal, ammonium or alkyl ammonium. Such compounds are prepared by reacting appropriate tetrafluoro ethylene oligomer substituted benzene sulphonic acids or acid chlorides with suitable aliphatic diamines and quaternizing the products. Alternatively appropriate tetrafluoroethylene oligomers are reacted with the methyl ester of sodium p-hydroxy benzoic acid, hydrolysing the product to the free acid and reacting the latter or the acid chloride with an appropriate compound containing an NH-group, e.g. a diamine, amino acid or lactone. In the case where a diamine is employed as starting material the intermediate is quaternized to obtain the desired product.
