Hydrogen is prepared by reacting upon silicon or aluminium or compounds of these elements, with water containing an alkaline-earth base such as lime or baryta, and a small proportion of alkali, or alkali salt such as carbonate acid or neutral sulphate, phosphate, sulphites, or hyposulphite. Specification 21032/09 is referred to.
