Abstract

134,214. Salzwerk Heilbronn Akt.- Ges. Jan. 24, 1918, [Convention date] Sodium sulphate; hydrochloric acid.-Sodium sulphate and hydrochloric acid are obtained by the reaction of nitre-cake on common-salt in complete fusion. The process is effected by adding the requisite quantities of the reagents to a bath of used sodium sulphate or common-salt. Air or steam may be blown through the mass to separate impurities, or lime or baryta or sodium carbonate or natron may be added for the same purpose. The hydrochloric acid may be purified by passing it over common-salt, which is thereby heated. Hydrated sodium sulphate is made by spraying the cooled product with .water.
