Abstract
1,269,991. Injection moulding building panels. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 22 Dec., 1969 [3 Jan., 1969], No. 474/69. Heading B5A. An injection moulded laminar building panel has a foamed core of a polymer of vinyl chloride surrounded at least at all points away from the sprue area by a continuous unfoamed skin of a rigid thermoplastic material. A charge of a rigid thermoplastic material is first injected into a mould, and then a charge of a polymer of vinyl chloride containing a blowing agent is injected to within the first charge. A second charge of the first material may then be injected. The mould cavity is enlarged after the second injection to allow foaming to take place. Examples of thermoplastic materials and of blowing agents are given. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,156,217.
