Abstract

[Also in Division F2] A nut for pressing into a channel form metal or plastics rail 11 comprises a body 12 of resilient plastics material, such as polyamide, having a central bore to receive a bolt, two slits 16a, 16b (not shown) and two resilient tongues 17 engaging the floor of the rail. The slits 16a, 16b may open into the bore or be connected to the bore by transverse cuts. The tongues 17 may be parallel to the slits and may be attached to the body at both ends. Further tongues 47 (Figure 7) may be provided to cooperate with the flanges 5 of the rail 11. The bore 3 may be threaded provided with axial ribs or house a threaded sleeve. In Figure 8, a metal insertion 73 has a rectangular flange 73a to prevent rotation of the insertion and is secured in position by resilient projections 63c on the body (Figure 9, not shown). The flange may extend the full length of the nut. The side faces abutting the rail flanges 5 are provided with bulges 62c to ensure a secure fit of the nut.
