Abstract

1,269,745. Internally-meshing gear pumps. ZAHNBADFABRIK FRIEDRICHSHAFEN AG. March 10, 1970 [March 21, 1969], No.11453/70. Heading F1F. In a gear pump having an internally-toothed ring gear 1 and an externally-toothed inner driven gear 2 and a crescent-shaped filling piece 4 therebetween, the filling piece adjacent the suction chamber 51 is formed with a guide surface 10 which directs the incoming flow medium, e.g. oil, on to the teeth of the inner gear against the direction of pump rotation to create favourable filling of the pump chambers between the inner gear and the filling piece and reduce noise. The surface 10 is formed in alignment with a surface 10I of a suction pocket 5II in the casing 3 and an associated pocket in the casing lid (not shown). Instead of the surface lying parallel to the axis 0 of the drive-shaft 12 as shown, the guide surface may extend obliquely to the axis O.
