Abstract

1,269,734. Comminuting apparatus. VICKERS-ZIMMER AG. PLANUNG UND BAU VON INDUSTRIEANLAGEN. 19 May, 1970 [8 Sept., 1969], No. 44366/69. Heading B2A. Apparatus for disagglomerating material, e.g. titanium dioxide, comprises a rotor 1, Fig. 3, having axially-extending peripheral ridges 9, operating within a cylindrical stator 2. Locating rollers 8, Fig. 5, on the rotor 1 prevent the ridges 9 from coming into contact with the surface of the bore 10 of the stator 2. The rotor 1 is mounted at the outlet end 14, of a screw-feed extruder and is driven (via pins 7) by the extruder screw 4. The rotor 1 is supported by a stepped bolt 5 screwed into a tapped bore in the rotor 4. This permits small axial and radial movements and accommodates misalignment between the axes of the rotor 4 and stator 2. In operation material enters under pressure from the extruder and passes into and from regions 12 lying between pairs of ridges 9.
