Abstract

1,268,586. Shaft couplings. MUELLER CO. 5 May, 1970, No. 21585/70. Heading F2U. A shaft coupling comprises inner and outer sleeve members 10, 22 whose ends are provided with wedge shaped projections or dogs 56 brought into longitudinal engagement by a manually operable freely rotatable screwed collar 38 with an external thread 40 engaging an internal thread at the end of sleeve 22 and a split abutment ring 39 carried by sleeve 10. As shown the coupling is applied to a drill in which a shell cutter 14 is secured to a collar 26 at the end of sleeve 22 by threads 32 and held in position by an end ring 34 secured by bolts 36.
