Abstract

1,268,369. Coating tape measures. RABONE CHESTERMAN Ltd. 24 Feb., 1970 [16 Dec., 1968], No. 59717/68. Heading B2E. [Also in Division Gl] A metal or metallised measuring tape is provided with a homogenous protective transparent coating by applying a powder of a plastics material or a synthetic resin to the tape and then heating the powder so that it fuses. The powder may be a polyamide, saturated polyester or an epoxy resin. The tape may be of steel and is preferably primed or painted. The powder may be applied by electrostatic coating or dipping in a fluidised bed and the coating may be fused in an oven or by heating the tape or by induction heating.
