Abstract

1318778 Tape measures RABONE CHESTERMAN Ltd 12 Nov 1971 [22 Sept 1970] 45080/70 Heading G1M A metal or metallized measuring tape 10, Fig.2 is pulled through a chamber 12 where movable electrostatic guns in housings 13, 14, spray finely powdered polyamides, saturated polyesters or epoxy resins on to the upper and lower surfaces of the tape. The powder adheres only loosely in the chamber 12 and the tape is then drawn through a hot air chamber 15 where it is heated to 200‹C. for five minutes to melt the powder and cause it to flow into a smooth transparent coating. The tape is then removed on to a take up spool 20. In Fig.1 (not shown) of the Provisional Specification the powder is deposited by passing the tape through an electrostatic cloud chamber. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1268369.
